Work Visa (482)

Temporary Skill SHortage Visa (subclass 482)

This visa is available in multiple streams – short term, medium term, labour agreement, and subsequent entrant. To be eligible for the first 3 streams, you are required to meet the following criteria:

  • Obtain a nomination for employment in an eligible occupation.
  • Possess a minimum of two years of relevant work experience in your nominated occupation or a related field.
  • Provide a skills assessment if it is mandatory for your occupation.
  • Limit your employment to your sponsoring employer.

There is no age requirement for the visa in any of these streams. If eligible, you can also apply for permanent residency if you’re a holder of this visa in the short term, medium term, or subsequent entrant streams. Family members can be included in the application of this visa in the first 3 streams (there are conditions) but they cannot be added after the application has been submitted. If a family member wants to join the main applicant in Australia after the application has been submitted, they can apply for this visa in the Subsequent Entrant stream, which is specifically for family members of primary holders of the 482 visa.
To ensure the validity of your application, it is essential that you possess either a substantive visa or one of the following bridging visas if you are applying while in Australia: Subclass 010 Bridging A visa, Subclass 020 Bridging B visa, or Subclass 030 Bridging C visa. Without meeting this requirement, your application may be deemed invalid.
